HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK

Maui’s amazing landscapes and beaches also play host to this stunning multicolored volcanic park landscape in the caldera of a giant dormant volcano. Legendary for its sunrise vistas which can be seen from the edge of Haleakalā, this diverse park consists of a dormant but massive volcanic crater on sacred land, amazing lunar landscapes and trails, the largest collection of beautiful and endangered species of any park in the park system, groves of exotic trees and bamboo, and rainforests that run down to Maui’s iconic coastlines.

O’KEEFFE COUNTRY on MAUI in HAWAI’I

AFTER THE DEVASTATING FIRES ON MAUI IN 2023, we thought the Haleakalā National Park residency program would remain on hold indefinitely, but through a new local partnership we are again able to offer an approximately four week residency in July of 2025 at a special & unique location near the park, as guests of a working organic farm.

Haleakalā has some of the most otherworldly landscapes in all of Hawaii. The Park boundaries include the dormant lunar landscapes of Haleakalā as well as rainforests and waterfalls and pools leading down to Maui's legendary coastlines. This is a unique dramatic environment for all artistic media to flourish and to inspire new breakthroughs in process and result. In fact, our prior Haleakalā residents, pianist Hunter Noack, and noted Astrophotographer Stan Honda, scored commissions at other parks from their work and stay at the park.

Open to Families, Single Artists, Artist Couples, artist collectives or arts troupes (up to 4 people)

Includes $5000 stipend
